The Warming Plate and Stainless Steel Cup are used for melting wax to coat eye shields.
The wax is melted in a small stainless steel cup with a wide top on a small electric warming plate. When the wax is melted, grip the eye shield with a forceps, dip into the wax for ten seconds and then remove. Constantly rotate it in all directions while the wax is cooling to prevent wax from building up in any one place. If the wax temperature is too low, it may go on the eye shield too thick and cause it to become bumpy. If the wax temperature is too high, it will not coat the eye shield evenly with a smooth surface layer.
